The Frilled-Necked Lizard (otherwise known as the Frilled Lizard, Frilled Dragon or Frilled Agama) is a species of reptile of the family Agamidae. Frilled Lizards are found in north Australia and the southern coast of Papua New Guinea. They are characterised by their neck cowl which is used as a defense against potential threats. The head is triangular with the eyes positioned as to allow a wide view. The lizard is a tan-gold color with dark spots to help it blend into the tree bark. Adults measure 3 Ft (1 M) long. The cowl is supported by thin spines surrounding the neck. When threatened the lizard erects the spines and raises the frill. It also opens its mouth and raises itself. They are occasionally known to chase threats bipedally.

They are arboreal and diurnal predators. They feed on small animals such as cicadas, termites, beetles, caterpillars, lizards and mice. They are more common in wet seasons when insects are more abundant. They are preyed on by dingos, snakes, large lizards, owls, eagles, hawks, falcons and quolls.
