Creatonotos gangis

The Creatonotos is a species of moth is found in Australia and Southeast Asia. This insect achieved internet fame for its inflatable, tentacle-like Coremata. Large, fuzzy scent organs used to attract mates. The Creatonotos has four Coremata, making it look somewhat like a flying octopus. The wings are a pink-white and have two large spots on them. There is another black spot on the head. The abdomen is a bright red-orange and has black spots. The orange fuzz fades into a yellow which wraps around the thorax. Its eyes are large and shiny. They sit under the sloping edge of the head and point downward. The moth is only 2 Cm long, small enough to rest on a fingertip. The moth is a terrible pest as it feeds on many plants such as Rice, Ragi and Coffee.
