GIANT SQUID

Avery D. Standard

Updated: Aug 29, 2019

Architeuthis dux

The Giant squid is a large mollusk found around the Pacific and Atlantic ocean. Not much is known about the squid since we have only recently developed submarines capable of diving this deep. Before these submarines were built, scientists examined the remains of dead specimens that had washed up on beaches. They measure to be about 10 Ft (3 M) long, and their suckers are lined with sharp cutting teeth. Their beaks may be able to break steel cables. They are though to be preyed on by Sperm whales. These whales dive deep into the ocean to hunt. They are covered with scars that appear to have come from the squid, although these fierce battles have never been seen.
