Cryptoprocta ferox

The Fossa is a Mongoose endemic to the coasts of Madagascar. Fossas are the island’s largest predator although they only reach 2 Ft (0.6 M) long. The feed exclusively on lemurs of all species, but also eat birds, tenrecs and reptiles. They catch said by ambushing them. They are very cat like in appearance.

They are threatened by habitat loss, as many other Malagasy species. Their population is also threatened by disease.
