Restoration of Colossal Squid in deep water

Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni

The Colossal squid is a giant Cephalopod found in the Antarctic seas. They are the largest invertebrate in the world, measuring up to 40 Ft (11 M) long. They were first discovered in the 1925 when tentacles were found in the stomach of a Sperm Whale. In 2007 a fishing boat called the San Aspiring caught a 14 Ft (4 M) squid off the coast of Antarctica. Few have been seen alive. The squid’s limbs are lined with sharp hooks, some swiveling and some three pointed. Their eyes are the largest in the world, measuring 20 In (60 Cm) wide and surrounded with photophores to improve vision.
