PURPLE FROG

Avery D. Standard

Nasikabatrachus sahyadrensis

The Purple Frog (or Pig-Nosed Frog) is a species of Anuran found in southwest India. They live in a remote mountain range known as the Western Ghats. They spend most of their lives underground searching for worms and insects to eat. Land clearing for farming has affected the Frog’s population. There is only one other species in its genus, Nasikabatrachus bhupathi.
